CROPFOUR X HATTIE PARKER

A Hemp story on a Hemp t-shirt

Cannabis has a rich history, one that Hattie knew needed to be known by more people. For millennia, the plant has been valued for its many uses. As the world is looking for more sustainable solutions, there’s an even more need to educate about the benefits of cannabis.

The Devil and his Lettuce

The Devil and his Lettuce is a free-form handbook that takes you on a mind-blowing trip through the path of cannabis. It educates on the many prejudices and fake news surrounding the plant and its medicinal properties, the textile fibre and the religious aspects. It is important to fully understand what cannabis is so that we can better understand and embrace it for a fairer and safer future.

Lowlands 2022

This year in 2022 (2 years late) Hattie will be exhibiting The Devil and his Lettuce at Lowlands Festival 2022. Hattie was awarded this fantastic opportunity as part of her prize for winning the Kick That Ass award in 2020. The award was given to Hattie by Maarten Baas and Lowlands Festival after her graduation from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2020. This award is given “to a graduate of Design Academy Eindhoven who has used the graduation year to make an authentic work – regardless of advice or assignments – within self-set frameworks”.

At Lowlands, Hattie has created ‘The Church of the Devil and his Lettuce’, an army bow tent with a custom cover. To the outside it is blank, but on the inside it is layered with all the illustrations from the original book, overlapping and merging to form a fractured stained glass window effect. This tent will be a space to chill out and relax, a calm place when you need a rest from the festival.

96% Hemp Tee

CropFour teamed up with our friends from Opera Campi and Hattie Parker to bring together and share two stories needed to be heard. Hemp textile production deserves a greater audience.

Opera Campi has been leading hemp fabrics innovations for the last 10 years, pushing boundaries and introducing innovations such as the “Butter Hemp” fabric used in this t-shirt. The softest hemp fabric ever made. Working together, we believe we can weave hemp textiles back together into our lives again.
